Our Mission

Learn By Gaming uses video games to teach.  We meet kids at their interests and ignite a lifelong passion for learning.  Through our summer camps, afterschool activities, and other projects we foster a youth gaming community that our generation never had.

The unique Learn by Gaming approach combines STEM Common Core Curriculum and Digital Game-Based Learning (DGBL) to create a well-rounded educational experience.   Our teachers are experienced educators in the Los Angeles area and our staff is dedicated to making our process as fulfilling for students as possible. We are lifelong gamers who understand the impact gaming can have in the development of a young person.

Our Team

Jordan Hicks
 Co-Founder

Jordan Hicks is from Trussville, Alabama. He grew up in video game culture and understands the power of education through gaming as a medium.  Jordan constantly seeks out new experiences, ideas and people while maintaining a positive, productive, and enriching mindset.

Doug Watkins
Co-Founder

Doug has been a lifelong gamer.  Gaming rewarded Doug with an intense curiosity and a willingness to try and, at times, fail. Doug has taught for summer camps, workshops, and college classes.  He believes that the drive must come from the person who is trying to learn - instead of trying to force that drive, Doug meets his students at their interests and finds their inherent educational value.
